Kent’s Annual Sidewalk Festival

The dog days of August? Not in Kent! If your idea of fun is great sales, fabulous food, toe-tapping tunes and jaw-dropping vintage cars, Kent is the place to be the first weekend of August.

Running from Thursday, August 2 through Sunday, August 5 this year, the Festival is free and offers super-sized retail therapy as well as entertainment for the whole family.

Kent’s unique and charming shops offer not-to-be-missed sales that include Rolling River Antiques, Main Street Antiques, Koblenz & Co. Antique & Estate Jewelry, The Covered Wagon Country Store, Bella Jewelers, the Fife ‘n Drum Gift Shop, Foreign Cargo, Terston Home Accents & Apparel, Sundog Shoe & Leather and Pantages Gems & Jewelry.  Annie Bananie General will have Sakura Blade and Tool Sharpening at the store each day of the festival and Henna By Elyse on Friday and Saturday.

Health enthusiasts will appreciate Choose Different’s Yoga Trapeze Demo and W. Rhythm Fitness’ Pilates/Barre class demo in front of David Gavin Salon at the Kent Town Center on Saturday afternoon.  Learn about the healing powers of doTerra Essential Oils & Stones at Chestnut Woodworking in the Kent Barns area on Thursday.  Kent Yoga & Bodyworks will offer a big savings for first time students at their 9:30 AM yoga class on Friday and Saturday.

Hungry? Check out the fabulous food offerings at our numerous eateries! In addition, the Kent Town Center will have Bees Knees Ice Pops on Sunday and Stosh’s Kettle Corn will have fresh popped kettle corn on Saturday & Sunday at the Kent Station Pharmacy.

St. Andrew’s Church will once again hold its Annual Tag Sale on Friday and Saturday at the Parish Hall rain or shine. Early Bird Buying on Friday from 8:30 to 10:00 AM ($10 charge). No admission fee during regular hours on Friday and Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM, Sunday 11:30 to 2:30.

Make sure to stop by the Kent Memorial Library for their Annual Book Sale and to purchase raffle tickets for a 2003 BMW Z4 Roadster. The Chess Court will be alive with chess enthusiasts from amateur to experienced levels. Relax and stroll through the KML Gallery to view the mixed media exhibit “DUET:Lynn & Ron Jones”.  The library also has a Summer Reading Program for Adults and their Great American Read (PBS).  Open on Sundays from noon to 4 PM through August 19.

The 8th Annual Kent Car Show takes place on Sat. Aug. 4 from 4 to 8 PM on the Kent Green.  Stop by to check out the vintage cars and enjoy some music and great food.

Other happenings include the Kent Art Association’s “Clothesline Art Sale” on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. On the Golden Falcon Lot on Main Street, the Kent Volunteer Fire Dept. will hold CPR classes on Sat. at 11 AM and Sunday at 1 PM and the Kent Knitters will sell their handmade items to raise money for KVFD. The Kent Historical Society will have their information booth on the lot as well as hold a Tag Sale at the Swift House (on Route 341) on Saturday.
