Read What People Are Saying About Winvian Farm

Here at Winvian Farm, we are, of course, most fixated on giving our guests from near and far the most wonderful luxury hospitality in one of the genuinely special corners of New England: northwestern Connecticut’s Litchfield Hills. That’s not to say we aren’t also gratified to see our Relais & Chateaux resort get some glowing press coverage.

Today we wanted to acknowledge three recent writeups (all from December 2020) that had some very kind things to say about the Winvian experience!

Veranda: “The 16 Most Stylish Cabins & Cottages for Nature-Inspired Getaways”

In this fine roundup, Lauren Wicks calls Winvian “a fabulous big-city escape for a secluded getaway” and specifically focuses on one of our 19 charming, individualized cottages, Woodlands. This pine-tucked cottage “brings the outdoors in as much as possible,” Wicks writes. “You’re not far from the resort’s acclaimed farm-to-table dining, spa, wine cellar, and recreational sports,” she notes, “but you’ll feel miles away from civilization while enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch.”

That indeed is part of the Winvian magic: the feeling of being away from it all, yet swaddled in the full embrace of five-star luxury.

Albany Times: “A Luxurious Base to Explore a Fetching Corner of Connecticut”

In this review, Jessica Kelly sampled the delights of another of our Winvian Farm cottages, Treehouse—“like bringing a childhood fantasy to life,” she describes it. In this COVID era we’re all still battling our way through, Kelly notes that “it’s comforting to get away to a private cottage that you know has been cleaned and properly sanitized by staff, with dining experiences and spa treatments all located on the property for you to enjoy.”

Kelly sings the praises of the Restaurant at Winvian Farm in her article: “Everything from the ambience of the romantic fireplace and soft jazz music to a delicious tasting menu made this experience a special one.” That tasting menu, in Kelly and her dining partner’s case, included everything from grilled octopus with polenta to bone-in pork served with root vegetables and lardon, plus such scrumptious desserts as the chocolate lava cake and vanilla cream with pineapple. (Kelly also gives a shout-out to the restaurant’s Fire & Ice cocktail, to which we offer a hearty second!)

Connecticut Magazine: “Best Restaurants 2021: The Top 15 Restaurants in Connecticut”

Speaking of the Restaurant at Winvian Farm, it lands prominently on this list of Connecticut’s finest eateries. Calling Winvian “a bit of a hidden gem in the Litchfield Hills,” the article praises our Executive Chef Chris Eddy: “a wizard with flavors and presentation.” The caliber of the dining, the authors note, is an important part of Winvian’s hospitality, which is “highly accessible, welcoming, and led by a team dedicated to dispensing enjoyment you can’t find in the same way elsewhere.”
