A Taste of Fall in Litchfield Hills, CT

Think you need to travel all the way to Vermont for the quintessential New England autumn experience? Well, think again.

We’re certainly not taking anything away from the splendor of the Green Mountain State, but our bucolic paradise of the Litchfield Hills here in northwestern Connecticut—a mere two hours or so from the New York City and Boston metro areas—summons its very own unique, across-the-board fall loveliness.

Come experience the crisp pleasures of the season amid the premium hospitality and expansive countryside of our rustic resort—and take advantage of a very special deal honoring out 10-year anniversary, as well!

Autumn in Northwestern Connecticut

The 2017 forecast for Connecticut’s autumn foliage is looking mighty promising, and here in the Litchfield Hills we lay claim to some of the best opportunities for “leaf-peeping” in the state. Indeed, our very grounds here at Winvian Farm feature some fiery color as local hardwoods shut down chlorophyll production and secondary pigments take the stage.

Keep up-to-date tabs on the status of the canopy show—which usually sets in the second week of October or so—here at the Connecticut Office of Tourism website.

The Harvest

The bounty of local farms and gardens is reaching its zenith this time of year—and that includes our own produce plots here at Winvian Farm, where seasonal delicacies such as Brussels sprouts are ripening in style. Our Executive Chef Chris Eddy, a master of farm-to-table cuisine, has a smorgasbord of fresh fruits and vegetables to draw upon from our three-acre organic gardens right now, and the magnificent results show up nightly on the plate at the Restaurant at Winvian Farm.

Apple orchards in the region are hitting full swing, too: There’s nothing like a bracing taste of Litchfield Hills cider to conjure up the spirit of the season.

Hit the Fair

We recently profiled some of our region’s long-running agricultural fairs, and there’s still one more to go this autumn! Just 20 minutes away, the Harwinton Fair is marking its 161st year in 2017, and with its varied delights—live bluegrass, horse-pulling demos, pig races, a Rabbit Costume Contest, and more—it’s not at all hard to see why it’s lasted so long.

Our 10-10-10 Package

Speaking of anniversaries, it’s our 10th here at Winvian Farm this year! To celebrate, we’re offering a special midweek deal we’re calling out “10-10-10” package. Reserve a room here for an upcoming Wednesday night and we’ll take 10% off your lodging, your restaurant bill, and your spa treatment!

Wednesday night or any other, come experience the glory of autumn in the Litchfield Hills with a luxurious getaway at Winvian Farm.
