The Winvian Wedding Experience
True love deserves true elegance, and a Winvian Wedding delivers. Winvian invites couples to make the entire 113-acre estate their own for an unforgettable weekend of celebrating new beginnings in a setting like no other.
From indoor and outdoor ceremony options and five-diamond-worthy cuisine crafted by Executive Chef Chris Eddy and his team, to access to our top-ranked spa for pre-wedding prep, a Winvian Wedding makes your dreams a reality.
Perhaps best of all, each wedding includes the services of our experienced wedding coordinator, Ann Smith. Recently, we sat down with her to learn more about the many ways in which a Winvian Wedding offers the total package, from “will you?” to “I do.”
Q: There are many wedding venues to choose from. What makes Winvian unique?
A: On wedding weekends, we close the property so that wedding guests have the entire estate to themselves. It feels like a family reunion, with a romantic twist. It’s a relaxed environment where guests play lawn games, relax by the pool or cap off the evening with a bonfire and s’mores. It’s a weekend-long celebration from rehearsal dinners to farewell brunch.
Q: What services do you offer, as in-house wedding coordinator?
A: I have planned weddings and large events for over twenty years, and enjoy collaborating with couples to make their special day as seamless as possible. I work with our staff to assist with everything from timelines and vendor lists, to creating floorplans and coordinating appointments. We offer such a comprehensive service that many couples forgo having an outside planner.
Q: Do you ever receive any unique requests?
A: All the time. It’s part of what makes my work so enjoyable. One of my favorites was a couple who wanted to welcome their guests with a “cottage crawl.” They selected four of their favorite cottages, and we served a signature drink and cottage-themed hors d’oeuvres in each location.
Q: What are some “only at Winvian” touches that couples can expect?
A: The food. We have all had unmemorable wedding food that feels like an afterthought. Winvian is different. We offer seed-to-table, five-diamond-quality food prepared by our Executive Chef, Chris Eddy. Our wedding food is an event, in and of itself. Also, our combination of Relais & Chateaux elegance and our beautiful natural setting is uniquely Winvian.
Q: What cottage do couples most often select for their wedding night accommodations? Which one would you choose for yourself?
A: Over this past year, no two couples chose the same cottage. Each cottage offers its own version of romance. My personal choice would be Maritime, for that coastal feel. Our couples have a lot of fun assigning cottages to their guests. They really put thought into which cottage is best suited for their closest friends and family.
Q: What is your favorite place for wedding photos onsite?
A: This may come as a surprise, but I love the Spa. It’s a beautifully serene environment with great lighting. Wedding parties get ready there and unwind with mimosas and that is where they capture some of the most stunning photos.
Q: Final thoughts? Are there any fun facts about Winvian Weddings that you’d like to share?
A: Two fun facts stand out to me. First, that the town of Morris doesn’t have a noise ordinance. That, combined with our private setting surrounded by nature means late night parties are welcome. Second, as a family-run, family-oriented business, we love watching our couples evolve. I would say at least 90% of the couples who get married here return for anniversaries. Maggie, Heather and the whole staff enjoys welcoming them back, year after year, and seeing their families grow. They become part of our Winvian family.
