Christina Kamenos & Cocktails

Whether enjoyed in The Restaurant at Winvian Farm or at our brand-new Maggie’s Tavern, our cocktails here at Winvian are definitely something to write home about. And whom do we have to thank for the high-level mixology that has our guests raving? Let’s find out!

Getting to Know Winvian’s Ace Bartender & Her Artistry

That would be Winvian Farm bar manager Christina Kamenos. Boasting deep experience in her field, Christina also has hospitality in her blood: Both her father and grandfather worked at New York City’s fabled Carlyle Hotel as maitre’d and sommelier.

Christina works closely with our Executive Chef Chris Eddy to harvest the freshest herbs, blossoms, and berries from the Winvian Farm gardens, adding hyper-local, in-season ingredients to her cocktail creations. Let’s just say not every bar can boast its own kitchen gardens! Examples of Christina’s seasonal drinks include the Purple Basil Daiquiri, The Lavender, and the Lemon Verbena Mojito.

Some of Christina’s Favorites

This skilled barkeep’s current favorite cocktail on the Winvian menu? The Golden Glow, namely on account this vodka-based libation features an ingredient Christina’s been tinkering with in her “laboratory” for more than a year: turmeric. You won’t find this mixed drink anywhere else but Winvian Farm!

Besides turmeric’s potential in mixology, Christina’s lately been inspired by one of the big trends in the industry: mocktails. Among her recent, must-try endeavors on that front is a mocktail made with Butterfly Pea Shoot Tea.

Back in the realm of spirits, Christina’s fave is tequila, some spectacular labels of which are on offer here, including Clase Azul Reposado and La Adelita Extra Anejo. Tequila cocktails on the menu include the Hot Pink Paloma, anchored by Tanteo Habanero Tequila blended with Cointreau Grapefruit Juice, Fresh Lime Citrus, and lava salt.

When it comes to managing bar at Winvian Farm, Christina is most jazzed about interfacing with guests, not least delving into their flavor preferences to recommend the perfect cocktail on the menu—or inventing a bespoke drink specially catered to their palate or mood.

And what about away from work? When she’s not barkeeping, you may well find Christina hitting the local hiking trails in the Litchfield Hills, paddleboarding out on nearby Lake Waramaug, or tending to her flock of backyard chickens.
